Projects are a great way to know residents and improve our community.
Our projects are all about providing events and activities that benefit local residents and the community as a whole. We believe that our strength lies in our diversity. We also aim to promote understanding between all sections of the local community, offering a setting for a multicultural, intergenerational and interfaith exchange.
In all we do, we strive to break down barriers and reduce isolation, enabling access to new opportunities.
We aim to provide events and activities that benefit our community.
CAN’s Arts’ Evenings
A free drop in evening, at the community centre, anytime from 7 to 9pm, on the last Friday in the month. Everyone welcome. Poetry, written by Newcourt residents, is needed for Newcourt Station. Photos of the Devon coast & Newcourt wildlife, taken by Newcourt residents, wanted for framing for the centre, (we can enlarge & print them in A4 size). Free needle felting session to make a landscape & take home.
‘Newcourt Pebbles’ is a fun group, meeting at the community centre, to decorate pebbles in the holidays. All materials provided. Children can keep them, or hide them somewhere obvious around Newcourt, for others to find, a bit like ‘Devon Rocks and Stones’. We can varnish them after the event. Anyone finding these pebbles around Newcourt, can photo, & post it on Newcourt Pebbles Facebook Group.
On the last Saturday of every month, we meet at the community centre at 11am. Litter picks, bags, children’s hi-vis vests & gloves provided. Come for a short while or longer… Children welcome with a parent & followed by cake, biscuits & drinks at 12.15pm, at the community centre. Thank you for helping to keep Newcourt tidy!
The Newcourt Community Association, with some funding from DCC, has this year purchased a set of six portable light for community evening events, sporting and other activities.
We have been coordinating the City Community Trust 20-weeks free football sessions from our local community school. If this increases in popularity then the City Trust will put on events next year for younger ages.
Coordinating free taster sessions for our community with SportyStars: multisports taster at the Newcourt Community Centre and another at our local school; multisports is now a regular event at the school and very good feedback from parents.
Read and Return Library
We have a small read and return library at the Community Centre. You are welcome to pop in and browse the shelves. We would also be pleased to accept any donations of books that are in good condition.
